After singing Happy Birthday to Edwin via Skype...
...we departed Amsterdam
for San Francisco, via Munich. We arrived late on the evening
of October 31, Halloween.
Driving up to West Hill Manor in Santa Rosa, we stopped off to
yell trick or treat through the letterbox of 2245 Vallejo Street.
Kay did not want to stop, it was late and she was convinced it would be
an unwelcome crash. There were lights on in spite of the late hour,
so we did stop. Charlotte later told me it "made her night".
It turned out in the light of day
that we were driving the second-ugliest vehicle on the
planet, a GM attempt to catch some of the retro market opened up by
the PT Cruiser.
Never buy one of these.
Apart from some cost-saving integrated electronics, the retro goes down
to the core of this vehicle. It might have had a flat windscreen.
Beauty may only be skin deep but ugly goes to the bone.
We visited Will-and-Jen-and-Ben.
We dined at the LowLuftWerks.
We Chevied with the troops.
Kay partied with the girls.
The record gets fuzzy here...
Meanwhile Jonathan went walking with M&K.
Our visits to SR are like hitting a homer in a game with too many bases... we have to touch down so many times in places we'd actually like to stop and tarry, for maybe 8 years or so. Strange habits these Americanos have:
On the way to the airport there was Friday Lunch.
It is good to see that the institution lives on!
The conversations were, as they have always been, interesting and animated.
Memory and photos confirm it: Santa Rosa has an undeniable quirky charm...
